The American thoroughbred race, known historically as "the fastet Two Minutes in sports," is also famous for its equally racy and spectacular contributions to the latest in women's headgear. Roy's less-than-ostentatious creation will be worn by actress Brooke Shields.

After the festivities, the two women will autograph the hat, and auction it off on the website of the foundation Clothes Off Our Back, with proceeds going towards diabetes research. Bidding ends May 16th, so you'll have to be quick!

The leggy brunette was spotted last weekend cooling her heels at Belvedere Vodka's "MusicLovesFashion" Party at Coachella, the annual rock festival held in the Southern California desert. In excellent company, she hinted at what we can expect from her future solo turn as a SoCal reality-starlette: "It’s going to be a little spicier, edgier, older.”

Not a bad combination for TV, or a cocktail, for that matter! We'll have another.

The reason? Kardashian was served up a DUI. "Everyone makes mistakes." Silver commented, "If you sell spirits, why would you fire somebody who could have been a customer of Trump Vodka the night she was pulled over?"

Wise words from an industry insider, but perhaps too forgiving? You'll remember the same Silver wanted to absolve NYC mayor Eliot Spitzer-minx and (coincidentally) high-class prostitute Ashley Dupre last year, with a starring role in her very own Georgi Vodka ad campaign.

As per usual, the Donald has no plans to appease, and certainly no apology for Silver: "It's a great compliment to me. It just shows how well Trump Vodka is doing."

George Clooney was a little overserved at a St. Louis bar last weekend.

In town filming "Up in the Air," the Oscar-winner made his way to Sub Zero Vodka Bar, where patrons got a good view of him "definitely stumbling." Says our eyewitness: "He was attempting to make his way down the block to his hotel, but was having a hard time getting there."

We're just glad to hear Clooney's sipping vodka. It's a classy drink for a (usually) classy A-lister - and lucky for you, George, we hear the hangovers aren't so bad when you stick to the good stuff.

"Putinka vodka piggybacked on the cult-like popularity of Vladimir Putin to become one of Russia's top-selling brands of spirits. For a new vodka named after Mr. Putin's presidential successor, Putinka is proving to be as tough an act to follow as Mr. Putin himself.

Medvedeff vodka, named after President Dmitry Medvedev, appeared in shops here in December, next to bottles of Putinka vodka and for the same price -- 150 rubles, or roughly $4, per half liter. But, while Putinka, which hit the market in 2003, remains Russia's second-best-selling vodka, Medvedeff has yet to find a place among the top 20."

Putinka's creator, the article goes on to report, just doesn't see Medvedev as a "vodka personality," whereas former spy Putin fits the bill. Let's just hope President Medvedev keeps his eye on the ball and his country's citizens away from the really bad stuff - illegal or home-made brews - that Russians have been tempted by in other times of trouble.

It's not the first time an alcohol company has promoted moderate consumption - Anheuser-Busch did it famously with their "Know when to say when" campaign back in 1982, also a harsh year for the economy. But Absolut is taking the idea to brand new heights, it would seem, with "Recognize the moment," a campaign beefed up with high-tech accessories such as a text messaging service, allowing revelers to schedule a moderation message to be sent to their phones ahead of time. We'll be scheduling two messages: one to remind us to leave at a reasonable hour, the other to emphasize that calling our ex at 2am on a Tuesday is not actually a good reconciliation tactic.

We're hoping that vodka drinkers don't low-brow it too much, however - all you need is a sip of a premium spirit after partying with Popov-type brands to remember that a good vodka is always worth a few extra bucks. Drink less, but drink the best, we say.

The No. 2 alcoholic drinks group, whose brands include Absolut Vodka, Beefeater gin and Jameson whiskey, is introducing mango-flavored Absolut, a Brazilian rum by Seagram's and Beefeater 24, a higher-end version of its flagship gin brand.

The Absolut Mango, launched first in the United States, will have a global roll-out next month.

Despite the grim economy, Pernod Ricard has reported better than expected profit for the first half of its fiscal year. Meanwhile, consumers are going out less and drinking more at home - and distributors are limiting their stock inventory under the pressures of the crunch.

Will tightening wallets make consumers that much more thirty for a mango-flavored tipple? Sounds unlikely, but we'll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, check out Absolut's Mango campaign here.

<![CDATA[Jam-band loving 25 year old launches new organic vodka]]> http://vodka.com/#article/574-jam-band-loving-25-year-old-launches-new-organic-vodka?from=news UC Davis is known to have produced its fair share of both wine experts and guitar-toting grads, but Ann Marie, 25, has taken her love of the environmantally-conscious, laid back lifestyle of California's central coast and bottled it in the form of Shadow vodka, writes the San Jose Mercury News.
